2021 Annual Report Extract
Managing Directors Report
I’m pleased to report to you, our shareholders, on our first year as a main board listed company, having successfully made the transition from a Capital Pool Company, to the main board on the back of completing the acquisitions, well within the two-year period we had promised.
ANIREP is now included in the FTSE NSX Index Series, from December 2020, as the only Alternative Electricity Utility entity on the main board.
ANIREP has now created a solid platform with predictable and sustainable long-term cash flows which generated EBITDA of N$17.3 million and operating cash flow of N$22.5 million for the year. This is underpinned by the high-quality cash yielding 10.73MWp solar PV IPP with 25-year power purchase agreements and a solid performance from Hopsol Africa, the largest EPC and O&M contractor in Namibia.
To bring access to power to every single African child, wherever they are located, has thus been my life goal, that culminated in the conceptualisation and formation of ANIREP. Developing desirable capital market instruments to link institutional capital and development funding with renewable assets by delivering an efficient investment vehicle of scale is the path we seek to walk. Thereby creating a bridge for Capital Markets into Renewable Energy Projects and fulfilling golden goal number 7 of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 7), which we regard as the key catalyst for the achievement of the other SDGs.
Sustainability is core to our DNA, as we believe that we can only thrive in the long term through profitable solutions to the world’s problems, thereby creating value simultaneously for both shareholders and society.
